Sunglasses you should totally wear at night.

About a week ago I was fortunate enough to score an interview with the designers behind my most recent fashion obsession! Coco&Breezy! These girls have created a completely fabulous line of eyewear that everyone from Amber Rose to Ashanti has been rocking lately. If you are a fan of looking like a straight up rockstar, then trust me, these are the shades for you!
                                        Myself in Coco and Breezy!

Check out COCOANDBREEZY.COM!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourselves! Who are you, where are you from? What do you like to do for fun?

Well we go by the names “coco&&breezy” we are identical twin designers, from Minneapolis, MN. We are now based in NYC! We have lived here for almost a month and a half now. We just got up and moved to NYC last minute, we are very determined and we just go for it!

2. How did you get in to accessory design? Why eyewear?

– We love accessories, and they are very important right now in fashion. We just wanted to come with something different. We were always known for wearing glasses in Minnesota. We used to wear glasses all the time in MN, to hide our eyes from making eye contact with people. Where we are from, they didn’t understand our style so people would talk ish about us, or laugh. So instead of wearing store bought glasses, we started an eyewear line.

3. What is the inspiration behind your current line of shades?

We are very inspired by glam rock with our chains, studs, and spikes. Also, futuristic with our startrek styles. We want to bring editorial high fashion to the streets. Our customer is that 1 person that always stands out in a crowd of 100 people. Its that person that will rock glasses at night time when its not even sunny out, they just look DOPE for a living. Its that person who just doesn’t care & has the confidence to rock the eyewear.

4. Do you have any plans to expand your line with different types of accessories in the future?

Yes, we are working on our next collection.. it’s going to be HOTT.. something different.. its a SURPRISE!

Twister Party Pictures!

I have to say the Twister Party we threw last Monday at Graveyard might have been the most awesome party of all time. Well, as far as Twister Parties go.  Sooo many people played (the majority of which were boys…weird…) and it was hilarious to watch.  The highlight of my night was when Gina called out “RIGHT HAND LEFT” which is obviously not possible.  Hahaha I LOVE IT. Check out the photos here!

KISSES to the always adorable Zoe Cipolla for pictures and Graveyard for being like the coolest Bar ever. SD <3s U.  And don’t forget to FOLLOW Sorry, Darlin on Twitter for more exciting parties which may or may not involve retro kiddie games.  -Sarah

Brooklyn DJ AC Slater + the always adorable DJMEGANFOXXX, djsmiles and Prince Presto held down the tunes, OhSnapKid was on paparazzi and party boys Cobra Corps def know how to hype a crowd up. ATL has been so much fun lately!
Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know one of my favorite bands Camera Obscura will be in Atlanta next week. Take a minute and listen to this sweet sweet Scottish indie/pop group.

You can catch them at Variety Playhouse Friday, November 20th with Papercuts.  You might wanna get tickets in advance, as I’m sure it’s gonna sell out!  And both Kelly and I have birthdays this week (Scorpio’s what what) so let’s celebrate! -Sarah

TOP 5 HOTTEST ATLANTA DJS!

As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of cute boys (oh hai bf!) and good music, I proudly present Sorry, Darlin’s TOP 5  HOTTEST ATLANTA DJS.   We just wanna shout out to all the boys we love to see spinning plus everyone loves a good list. You know you do.  Ladies version coming soon!!

SORRY, DARLIN’S TOP 5 HOTTEST ATLANTA DJS:

5. Blayne Burdette

Blaynez

Blayne kinda has that dirty New York boy look about him, and not in a bad way. Last time we saw Blayne DJ he played all of our requests (The Stones + Earth, Wind & Fire = Win.) so we obviously like him. You can catch Blayne Thursdays at Graveyard Tavern for Theft of the Dial for lots of music from a guy with superb, indie, post-punk taste!

4. Preston Craig

Preston!

What would a list be on Atlanta DJ’s without KISSATLanta founder, long time DJ and promoter/mogul/bad boy Preston Craig.  Everyone has witnessed those luscious brunette locks and been stared/glared at by his soulful eyes.   What will we do without him when he moves to NYC this December? Who knows.  Until then, catch Preston every Saturday for free at Noni’s.  And uh, you can pick a fight with me online anytime precious.

3.  Black Sunshine (Adam Darby)

BLACK SUNSHINE!!

Adam Darby has the biggest and prettiest lips I have ever seen.  His lips are the blipster equivalent to Angelina Jolie’s and lord knows he knows how to use them (plus he’s single now ladies!!). You can catch Black Sunshine, his beautiful lips and generally happy aura D.B.D.C. Mondays at Graveyard w/ Brian Parris.

2. Le Castle Vania (Dylan Eiland)

LCV

Le Castle Vania is a HUGE international DJ/online heart-throb who started out in Atlanta at the tender age of 16 under the moniker DJ DJ DYLAN and has since played parties with everyone from Justice, Digitalism, Mstrkrft, Steve Aoki and the whole Ed Banger Crew. Eiland now own’s his own record label and promotion company (Always Never), has adorable LCV Apparel and is a huge success. You can catch Le Castle Vania, his mass following of young screaming girls and that unmistakable head of hair at FUCKYESSS, LCV’S monthly party at The Drunken Unicorn.  Or maybe you dated him.  I know fellow Sorry, Darlin contributor Kelly and I did. But thats a whole diff blog!! Hehehe. Just playing LCV!

1. Black Dominoes (Kellen Crosby)

BLACK DOMINOES!

Black Dominoes has been on the Atlanta/Athens party scene for a while now, and you’ve probably noticed.  You can currently catch this brunette/adorable/hipster at El Bar every second Wednesday of the month for GOLDSWEAT with Captain Crunk.  Crosby spins what he describes as “new eclectic dance music” but we’d probably listen to anything delivered by curly hair and wayfarers.  Yeah, we said it.

-Enjoy! And come hang out @ GRAVEYARD TAVERN Monday Nov. 23 for our HUGE TWISTER PARTY!! It’s going to be the largest Twister party the World has ever seen! Follow Sorry, Darlin on Twitter for more important ATL updates! -  Sarah

Darlin of the Month: ARIANA NICOLE

What is Sorry, Darlin you ask? One part silly fun, a dose of class, and of course a heaping spoonful of pure, unadulturated authenticity (being who you are without ANY reservations). You know, just being the best superwoman you can be. Atlanta-socialite Ariana Nicole was obviously my first pick for Darlin of the Month for November.

The interview took place on the Octane patio, where we discovered that salted bagels are delicious, and especially with the veggie cream cheese! (I also had yummy coffee from the french press!)

Ariana, you were my first choice because, on top of all the hotness you possess… a Georgia Tech student and also on the dance team! That is seriously a quite the workload I’m sure! What are you studying?

International Affairs and Psychology.. it has to do with a lot of business and politics.

Wow, that’s quite a major! I always read your tweets about Calculus and think how awesome it is that you are taking such challenging courses. As a lady, I’ll say it’s hard to find girls with smarts like that! And what’s this about dance team?? I must know more!

Yeah! It’s great! I love the girls and the games. It’s so much fun getting all dolled up, wearing glitter, being a girl…. and it’s great because it’s senior year and we get to travel.

Awesome. Another reason I wanted to interview you is because we are kindred spirits. These days with all the nightlife ambiguous-ness, a lot of us resort to social-networking sites to keep up with each other. I noticed we both seem to enjoy quotes, books, and the like. Any books, or authors you’d like to suggest?

Oh! I’m so excited! I just purchased all of the Douglas Adams Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy! So definitely that.  A few authors I read are Chuck Palahniuk, Oscar Wilde, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and I absolutely LOVE all Bukowski poetry. I think he’s hilarious.

Who would you say is a hero/icon to you… you know like Ava Gardner for example ?

OH ME TOO! I love Ava. You should read “Love is Nothing”… It’s incredible. She was glamorous … I read that book in two days! I’ll let you borrow it!

Oh my gosh of course! Oh and I HAVE to ask … favorite band?

Definitely Radiohead. The Bends is my favorite album. Their music is timeless. I love how every album is so completely different.

Alright. Everyone has a nerdy side. Kiss n’ tell girl!

Ok… This is really… ha.. really embarrassing. I am obsessed with RPG games. Ultima Online for example.

Ha. It’s alright.. I was very addicted to Farm Town for a while.. I don’t think you can top that.

It was so much fun interviewing Ariana! Darlin of the Month is going to be a new edition to our blog entries! We’ll be on the look out for any other extraordinary superwomen out there in the ATL!

CMJ

Hello blog babies!! It’s been a crazy month here in NYC, with all sorts of festivals, CMJ, Brooklyn Halloween crazy crazy crazy!! But I wanted to drop y’all a line about a couple bands I happened upon during the insanity of the CMJ music showcase. Every indie darling/your favorite electro DJ was here as well as all the biggest Atlanta acts, but here are a couple less well-known bands that seem pretty promising.

First, Jessica Six, this Brooklyn-based electro/dance-pop trio is a side project of members of Hercules and Love Affair. I checked them out at one of the last CMJ shows of the weekend held at the Tribeca Grand Hotel.

Morgan Wiley Nomi Ruiz Andrew Raposophoto by Justin Stanley

Although, in a semi-divaish fashion, the show started over an hour late, once the band got going they were really into providing a great show. The lead singer, Romi Ruiz, was dancing, sweating, and screaming dressed in one of the most scandalous mesh/lace/spandex get-ups I’ve ever seen. The music ranges from outright pop to slower, more melancholy ballads. Although some of the songs could have benefited from a more fleshed-out chorus, there were enough haunting vocals to keep my attention. They’re a pretty new band and don’t have too much up on their myspace, but check them out if they come to a spot near you.

P.S. The lead singer is transgender and, in the middle of the show, the fratty boy next to me leaned over and drunkenly said, “You know she’s a trans woman??!” to which I replied, “yeah, I heard.” He then yelled, “I don’t care! I would totally fuck her.” Awesome.

Second, a sweet little indie rock band called Arizona. This previously Brooklyn-based quartet now calls Asheville, NC their home. I caught their showcase early in the week at Lower East Side spot Fat Baby. Lead vocalist Ben Wigler has an endearing and unusual vocal range, hitting the upper octaves in a way in which this girl certainly can’t. Check out their myspace. I like the track “Splinter”…really catchy pop song. For all you GEORgians, they appear to be coming to a 40 watt near you this month.

Arizona

P.S. I’m always a sucker for a drummer…and they got a cute one :) - kelly bourdet
